What my avatar currently looks like!
Hello all, I'm Karen. I am a graduate of Baker High School here in Mobile (CLASS OF '04 ROCKS!), and I am currently attending Troy University. Because of my high ACT score (31) and GPA (4.2+), I've gotten a full ride there--room, board, and everything. Ha. No one's ever paid me to eat before. Ever. No one.
Okay, in my freetime...wow, that's weird...I actually have freetime. Here I was, stressing about college, and getting everything done, but now I have so much time, I don't know what to do with it. I've been writing some, and playing lots and lots of computer games.
Any otaku out there? Yay for you! I love anime--Japanese animation, for those of you who don't know. And no, it's not limited to painful things like Pokemon and Digimon. Granted, I did start watching anime because of Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon (neither of which I can stand now--cept for the Sailor Moon movies and manga), but I matured. And to all those junior-high girls who still like Sailor Moon: more power to you! Enjoy it while it lasts, because one day you'll wake up and go "OMG! Why am I watching this?" and you will lose a part of you that will never be repleaced. Anyway, if you want to see some fairly decent anime, I suggest tuning into Adult Swim. They brought Trigun back, and it's one of my favoritest animes ever. I bought the whole series six months before the rumors of it coming on Adult Swim came out. Other anime I really like are Fushigi Yugi (own the whole series and the four OVAs), Perfect Blue (awesome psyche thriller), Spirited Away (aww! feel good movie), Princess Mononoke (KODAMAS!), Nazca (wish I could find more volumes!), and Boogiepop Phantom (I've watched the whole series four times, and I still don't understand most of it). I've watched some Saiyuki, and intend on borrowing the first season from Michelle, so I'll be able to speak more on it later. I've seen a couple eps of FLCL and want to see more, because it looks awesome. Then of course, you have the classics: Voltron (which I started watching when I was five years old), Thundercats (yes, I realize how dumb it was!), and Lupin III. Cody, I don't care if you hate the animation from Lupin, that doesn't change the fact that it's a classic in anime history. It's like faulting Casablanca for it's lack of special effects. And anyone who understands this, my heart goes out to you. You have as little life as I do! Lol.
Mid-December 2003, you could have called me a band nerd. I guess I still am in some respect, because it constitutes forty percent of my conversations (mainly because all my friends are still band nerds). The only reason I quit was so that I could take an AP course, which is more important to me. But still, there will always be a special place in my heart for band camp, sweaty t-shirts, itchy bib pants, greasy shako's, fuzzy chickens, Rock and Roll Part II (the "HEY!" Song), taping mallets, cups of luke-warm water, and new reeds. There is nothing on earth that tastes like a new reed. Don't know if that's a curse or a blessing, though. I started my band career in sixth grade playing clarinet. Halfway through seventh grade, I switched to oboe. My first three years of high school, I played clarinet during marching season for the half-time show, and then oboe for Christmas concert and concert season. My senior year, I had an ankle injury that would require time to heal, and my band director had too many people and didn't want anyone to shadow, so I got moved to the pit and Alex got my spot on the field, but that's cool. I liked being in the pit. Granted, we didn't march and goofed off most of band rehearsal, but it was frickin' HARD to get all of Tripp's stupid equipment out there. Especially if we didn't have the carts. If we had to actually carry everything out there, it took half an hour. Usually, though, Ruth got her truck and we just transported stuff that way.
Ah, Ruth. Dear, dear, Spooner was my roommate at Troy. You'll notice the "was." Yes, as of March 2, 2005, she officially withdrew. She hadn't really been living here, so there wasn't too drastic of a change, but she is officially gone.
We had a fish. We had two fish, but one died after five days of owning him. Poor George. We hardly knew him. Butter and Nathan killed Fred.

This is Bingo, my tiger. Watch out. He bites.
